Phases of the project cycle ‣ Initiation: The first phase in which you understand the "why" of the project. You plan the goal of the project, choose a leader and clarify your approach. The key result of this phase is the project charter (draft). ‣ Planning: This is where you use your PM (project management) knowledge to develop a detailed plan and execute the project. You will define the scope of the project, create a WBS (work breakdown structure) and map the schedule. In this phase, all the work is done – risk management communication plans etc. Some of the key deliverables are WBS, Gantt chart and project plan. ‣ Execution: This is the phase of the project where you actively follow up on assigned tasks and ensure the project stays on track. You will hold meetings, send status reports and ensure the project runs smoothly. ‣ Control: The control phase takes place alongside the execution phase and is aimed at monitoring the progress of the project. You will monitor milestones, goals and activities to ensure the project is on track. ‣ Closing: In this fifth and final phase, you will hand over all results to stakeholders and officially close the project.
